Question: Are you a specialty practice?

Yes! We specialize in all skin conditions from the top of your scalp to your toes! Advanced Dermatology & Cosmetic Institute was established by Dr. M. Elizabeth Briden in 1997 in response to the ever-changing medical care environment. She wanted to provide the most comprehensive dermatologic and therapeutic skin care services in a personalized and professional medical environment.

Question: What is a Physician Assistant?

The American Academy of Physician Assistants describes a physician assistant as a graduate of an accredited PA educational program which is authorized by the state to practice medicine with the supervision of a licensed physician. PAs are invaluable members of the health care team, working in concert with physicians to ensure the highest quality of care for patients.

To practice as a physician assistant, the PA must attend an accredited PA program. Prior to admission, the typical PA student has a bachelor's degree and approximately 4 years of health care experience. After extensive class and lab instruction they complete more that 2,000 hours in clinical rotations.

They must then pass the national PA certification exam administered by the National Commission on Certification of PAs (NCCPA) which is open only to graduates of accredited PA programs. They must also be licensed by their state's medical licensing board. They are certified by the Drug Enforcement Agency in Washington, DC to prescribe medication.

In their title, (PA-C) the "C" means certified.

Question: What types of medical insurance do you accept?

Advanced Dermatology and Cosmetic Institute accepts most of the medical insurance coverages offered today. If you have an unusual type of coverage or you aren't sure who you may see for dermatology services, there is a customer service number on the back of your insurance card that you may call for assistance.

We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express for payment of co-pays.

Question: How are ADCI and AST (Advanced Skin Therapeutics) related?

ADCI is the medical clinic side of the practice and AST is the skin care product area. Both are located in the same building and work together to provide the most comprehensive skin care services. Dr. Briden serves as the Medical Director for both companies.
