Chemical Peels
Achieve healthy, glowing and rejuvenated skin with little to no downtime. Chemical peels are used to rejuvenate the skin by stimulating new cell growth. From acne to lines and wrinkles, everyone can benefit from chemical peels.
These original “lunchtime peels,” are highly effective and clinically proven to improve skin appearance. Chemical peels remove the damaged layer of surface skin cells to stimulate cell turnover and boost collagen production. Your skin will appear healthier, smoother, firmer, and more even-toned.
Chemical peels can be used to treat many different skin concerns.
- Acne
- Age spots
- Discoloration
- Dull complexion
- Fine lines
- Freckles
- Melasma
- Rough-textured skin
- Sun-damaged skin
A variety of peel strengths are available. This allows your skincare professional to design a treatment program to specifically meet your individual needs. Your provider will discuss the number of treatments needed to achieve optimal results. More severe skin concerns can take longer to improve. Results are best achieved in a series of treatments and may be combined with other treatments to yield the best possible outcome for your skin. Peels are recommended at 4-6 weeks intervals.
Your provider may recommend a pre-treatment regimen for your individual needs and skin type with products containing glycolic acid (often 2 weeks prior) to prepare your skin. You’ll typically be instructed to stop using certain products, including glycolic acid creams, retinols and other exfoliants, a few days before the peel appointment. This is to prevent over-exfoliation and excessive sensitivity.
- Preparation of the skin: Using glycolic acid products in the weeks leading up to the peel can help to prepare your skin by thinning the outermost layer (stratum corneum), making it more receptive to the peel solution. This allows the peel to penetrate more evenly and effectively.
- Building tolerance: Daily use of glycolic acid products can help your skin build tolerance to the acid, potentially minimizing sensitivity and irritation during the peel.
- Assessing skin reaction: A trial period using glycolic acid products can help you and your aesthetician determine how your skin reacts to the acid before the higher concentration peel is applied.
