When our patients look in the mirror every morning and see their once-even complexion altered by discoloration, it can seriously affect their self-esteem. Unfortunately, hyperpigmentation is all too common, with melasma alone affecting up to 5 million people in the United States. That number doesn’t even account for other causes, like age spots and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation.

You can feel good about the skin you’re in with the Cyspera Intensive System™, a clinically-prove, 3-step solution to hyperpigmentation formulated with Cysteamine Isobionic-Amide Complex™ to improve the appearance of even the most stubborn dark spots.

The Types of Hyperpigmentation

All bodies, regardless of ethnicity, produce the pigment melanin through a biological process called melanogenesis, which occurs in specialized cells called melanocytes located in the deep layers of the epidermis.

While it does give our skin, hair, and eyes their color, melanin is also one of our body’s natural defense mechanisms, and melanocytes can be triggered into production due to sun exposure, hormonal changes, certain medications, inflammation, and injuries to the skin.

Thus, depending on why and how it appears, hyperpigmentation is separated into distinct types:

  • Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) occurs when the body sustains an injury and activates its inflammatory system, causing redness and swelling. In some people, their melanocytes are also activated, which causes inflammation to leave behind purple, brown, or tan splotches where the redness was during the inflammation response. PIH also results from the release of melanin from injured cells and resolution of blood in from injury.
  • Melasma is a symmetrical darkening of the skin due to hormonal changes, often with pregnancy or birth control pills. It mainly appears on the face cheeks but may be present anywhere on the body.
  • Periorbital and perioral hyperpigmentation refers to darkening around the eyes and mouth, respectively. It’s more common in those with allergies, who are more likely to experience inflammation in the eye area. Lack of sleep can also worsen it.
  • As the name implies, intimate hyperpigmentation occurs in intimate areas because melanocytes are particularly abundant near the groin and genitals. It’s caused by friction in areas where our skin rubs together, causing inflammation. Some people’s bodies produce melanin as part of the healing response, which can, over time, cause skin darkening between the thighs, in the groin crease, and even on the hips where underwear waistbands rub.

What’s Included in the Cyspera Intensive System™

The Cyspera Intensive System™ is a comprehensive skincare regimen by Scientis that significantly improves the appearance of brown patches and dark spots. In a clinical study, 100% of subjects noticed a reduction in hyperpigmentation within four weeks and a smoother and more even skin tone.

Cyspera Intensive™

At the center of the system is the Cyspera Intensive™ Pigment Corrector, a hydroquinone-free formula that’s safe for continued, long-term use. It’s the first and only topical cream with cysteamine hydrochloride, which has been clinically proven to reduce the appearance of hyperpigmentation in as little as two weeks of consistent use.

  • Depigmenting Cysteamine: A potent antioxidant capable of inhibiting melanin production during melanogenesis, or the process in which melanin is manufactured in our bodies.
  • Brightening Isobionic-Amide: This patent-pending vitamin B3 derivative delivers a synergistic effect, enhancing the skin-brightening effectiveness of cysteamine for an even, more radiant complexion.
  • Smoothing AHA: Gently exfoliates to gradually sweep away dull skin flakes and reveal smoother and brighter skin while creating an acidic environment and enhancing cysteamine permeability into the skin
  • Renewing Retinol: Accelerates skin renewal, which will be less pigmented, smoother, and younger-looking.

Cyspera Neutralize™

After using Cyspera Intensive™, Cyspera Neutralize™ rebalances your skin’s pH and soothes irritation. The addition of glycerin, pentylene glycol, and arginine also promotes a healthy skin barrier for better resilience against environmental stressors.

  • Gentle Exfoliation Lactobionic Acid: Neutralizes Cyspera Intensive™ and rebalances the skin’s pH to prepare it for Cyspera Boost™.
  • Soothing Amino Acids and Probiotics: Soothes the skin and promotes a healthy skin barrier.
  • Mild Surfactant With Lactic Acid: Deeply cleanses Cyspera Intensive™ from the skin and neutralizes the smell of cysteamine.

Cyspera Boost™

For even better results from Cyspera Intensive™, pair with Cyspera Boost™, a daily serum for building a healthier, more resilient skin barrier, improving overall glow, and enhancing the depigmenting effects of cysteamine.

  • Brightening Isobionic-Amide: The same vitamin B3 derivative in enhancing Cyspera Intensive™ to boost the skin-brightening effectiveness of cysteamine for an even, more radiant complexion.
  • Stabilized Vitamin C: A powerful antioxidant that neutralizes free radicals to keep skin looking luminous and slow down the signs of aging.
  • Renewing Retinol: Helps with cell turnover to reveal evenly-colored, youthful skin.
  • Moisturizing Sugars, Pro-Vitamin B5, Squalene: Provide deep moisturization and ease inflammation, often leading to hyperpigmentation.

How to Use the Cyspera Intensive System™ 3-Step Routine

Depending on your personal skincare routine, you have the flexibility to apply in the morning or the evening. The most important consideration is choosing a time when you have 20-25 minutes to ensure each component has enough time to do its job before moving on to the next step.

  1. Start with an unwashed face. Your skin’s natural oils form a hydrolipic film that helps control how deeply the treatment penetrates the skin to reduce the chance of irritation. If you need to wash, do so at least one hour before applying the Cyspera Intensive System™ for best results.
  2. Apply one pump of Cyspera Intensive to your face and leave it on for 15 minutes. Leaving the product on longer than 15 minutes will not make hyperpigmentation clear up faster.
  3. While the Cyspera Intensive is still on your face, apply two pumps of Cyspera Neutralize, massaging it into your skin in a circular motion. Rinse thoroughly with water and pat your skin dry.
  4. Finish with a thin layer of Cyspera Boost, followed by your favorite sunscreen rated for SPF 30 or higher.

With consistent use, the Cyspera Intensive System™ can visibly improve hyperpigmentation in 2 weeks, with more remarkable results after 16 weeks.
